Having Power In Life Inexpensively

I have lost a friend and a collegue last week due to leukemia i.e. cancer of the blood which he suffered for the last 3 years. He was only 44 years old. There could be numerous reasons why and how he got the cancer in his blood.

As I get older, I now live in the present. I think when we are young, we always live in the future, but when we are old we tend to live very much in the present. I know a lot of older people who live in the past. I suppose I am an old person, because some kids call me auntie, although I have never thought of myself in that way. There's a life to be lived, but I don't live in the future and I don't live in the past. I live very much in the present.

I guess if we are physically unwell, people talk about the arrogance of good health. When we are healthy we just take it for granted, but I think we would very quickly feel otherwise if we became ill.

I suppose it's extremely important, as an older person, we must have power and money, because if you don't have the power and you don't have money you do get pushed into a corner. Our society is made in such a way, and by power I mean we don't have to be a Prime Minister or the King but must have control over something in our life so that we are not seen as an object or a victim. Well, it's just observation not that I experience any of that sort.

Well, I suppose some may differ from my views in life but I am open to comments. Thanks

Being Healthy

Being healthy is more than just being free of disease, also means feeling good about yourself, no pain, no aches and being in full control of our lives. I am reaching my early fifties and it is time to assess our way of living and how might be affecting our health.

To experience total health, I may need to make a few changes by eating well-balanced diet, regular exercise and reducing and controlling stress.

A sensible eating program is important throughout out life. As I get older, I realized my nutritional requirements change, my metabolism slows down, my body absorbs fewer nutrients and I require fewer calories. I may even exercise less. If I continue to eat the same amount and types of food as before, I will probably put on weight. Every now and then I will stand on my weighing scale to guard against weight gain as this can increase risk of heart disease, which will already be increased by my diminishing levels of oestrogen.

It's important to manage what and how much I eat and how I keep my body in shape. For many women, weight has never been a problem. For others, life has been a constant battle with a multitude of diets. Weight gain results when the amount of calories I consume exceeds the amount of calories I use through metabolic and physical activities.

Most women I noticed increase in weight at this transitional stage in their lives. This weight might be evenly distributed throughout the body or it will begin to appear as extra bulk around the midriff.
